why true food loves supporting local suppliers

fresher produce

The bread True Food receives from Aston’s Bake House and Wild Frog is baked fresh every day.

fewer food miles

Fruit and vegetables from Greenbroom and Tolhurst are grown on the Hardwick Estate just five miles away. As a result our range of fruit and vegetables changes daily depending on what is in season.

ethical practices

Path Hill Farm supply our beef. We have an excellent relationship with James Norman, the farmer, who is passionate about ensuring the highst welfare standards for his cattle while nurturing flora and wildlife on the farm.

supporting not-for-profits

Hempen Organic is a not-for-profit workers’ co-operative based in Goring Heath. Tea People is a Reading based social enterprise that funds educational and social projects in impoverished tea growing regions.

unique products

Tutu’s Ethiopian Sauces are not like anything you will find on the shelves of Tesco and are absolutely delicious!

original

The greetings cards by Heather Upton and Helen Lunn are one-off pieces of of artwork and can easily be framed to double-up as a gift.

passionate producers

Our Primrose Lady ethical body care products are made by Kumari, a volunteer at True Food. Kumari frequently does supplier events in store and is incredibly passionate and knowledgable about her range.

less waste

Tutt’s Clump Ciders utilise windfall and waste apples to produce their delicious range of ciders. Any waste from the cider making process is fed to the local pigs!

Traditional practices

For 38 years Anne and Andy from Village Maid have produced award-winning artisan cheeses that are unique in style but incorporate traditional cheese-making methods.

top quality

All the honey that comes from our local suppliers, Honeys of Henley, Highmoor Bees and Hook End, is produced from their hives and is pure, unaldulterated goodness. No fake honey here!

great relationships

Our relationship with ‘Matt the Milkman‘ means he has a key to the shop and can deliver our milk before we even arrive in the morning!
