shopping zero waste
True Food stocks a huge range of zero waste organic foods and a wide range of refill ethical household and body care products.
Selling loose and refillable products means cutting down on single-use plastic packaging and enables you to buy as much or as little as you want.
Every year our household refill station saves over 7000 pieces of packaging.
How does shopping zero waste work?
Bring your clean empty containers – jars, bags, bottles, Tupperware – ideally with a label on them to say what they weigh in grams, (for loose foods) and what they will hold in millilitres/litres (for liquid refills). Don’t worry if you don’t have a container, we have paper bags for loose items and refillable bottles.
For household items it’s a good idea to refill containers with whatever was in them originally, although we do provide labels.

- Weigh your empty container
- Make a note of the weight
- Fill it with as much of any single product as you need
- At the till, we will weigh the full container, deduct the weight of the container and change you for the contents.
At True Food our friendly staff and volunteers are always willing to offer a helping hand if you need it when you’re shopping with us – so why not give it a try.
